Explore the Store

The Nursery children took part in an ‘Explore the Store’ session at Tesco in Eston. We visited the cheese counter where we got to try some different cheeses. Then Paul on the fish counter told us all about the different fish that they sell. We got to go into the bakery and see how Dan makes all of the bread to sell fresh in the store, as well as trying some different fruits in the fruit and vegetable aisle. We also got lots of delicious things to take back to Nursery with us – chocolate cake, fruits, cheese and some vegetables which we made into a delicious warming vegetable soup, accompanied by some tasty Tesco bread made fresh when we visited!

The children in Nursery played ‘mum and dad’ to some teeny tiny caterpillars last half term. We helped to move them into their own special pot and fed them special food called ‘nutrient’. It wasn’t long before the caterpillars got bigger and fatter and then spun their cocoons. The cocoons were moved to a special net where they could hatch out into Painted Lady butterflies.

World Book Day

On Thursday 2nd March, the whole school enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character – Nursery was no exception.  From The Gruffalo to Snow White, The Stick Man to Red Riding Hood, a fun day was had by all.

Houses & Homes Craft Day

It’s not all about the children having fun in Nursery, sometimes we invite the grown ups in to join us.  Nursery hosted a ‘design a room’ craft day for all to enjoy.  There were some fabulous room designs – one even had working lights!!

Chinese New Year

The Nursery children rounded off their topic by hosting a Chinese New Year party.  There was lots of fun and games and even some traditional dragon dancing.  At the end of the party, the children enjoyed a traditional Chinese banquet – complete with chopsticks!!

In Nursery we have been learning all about ‘People Who Help Us’.  We have been on walks around the school to find out who helps us in school, we have talked about how our mummies and daddies help us and we have had lots of different visitors come to talk to us about the important jobs they do.

“My mummy helps to look after me” – Noah
