Safeguarding at Belmont Primary School
The welfare of the children within Belmont Primary School is of utmost importance to us all. All members of staff (including lunchtime supervisors, teachers, teaching assistants, administrative staff and cleaners) have received safeguarding training and will continue to do so on an annual basis. The school works closely with a number of agencies and, where concerns arise, due process is followed to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
With this in mind, the school employs a Safeguarding Consultant, Mr Peter Davies, who worked for a number of years in this role for the local authority. As well as visiting the school to discuss certain issues with staff, children and parents, he also undertakes regular safeguarding audits and ‘supervisions’, identifying good practise within the school as well as suggesting possible developmental areas.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr C Gibson (Headteacher). There are also Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) who are Mrs S Noble (Deputy Head / SENDCo) and Mrs L Allen (School Business Manager) and Miss C Sunderland (Assistant Head) Mrs N Lynas (EYFS Lead) . If you have any concerns at all about the welfare of any child, please do contact the school to speak to any of these people. Our ‘named governor’ for safeguarding is Mr M Tilling who can be contacted via the school. The main contact number for the school is 01287 635332.
